My name is Roberto Ferrari, and if you haven’t noticed yet, I’m passionate about photography and sports. But I wasn’t always. First came sports. I was brought up riding bikes and playing football and when I wasn’t playing sports, I was watching them. It was only a few years ago that I finally came to terms with the fact that I wasn’t going to be the next Pantani or Pirlo. It hit me hard but I knew I had to look for something else to do. I tried a few things but it was only when I ended up taking a photography course that anything really caught my lasting attention. With the technical knowledge I had learned, I went out into the world to take photos of everything that did or didn’t move.
It didn’t take too long for me to take my camera to a sports event, and I fell in love straight away. I think it’s the dynamic nature that caught my imagination. Each photograph comes with its own challenges and each shot is unique. There are so many different things to capture, whether it’s movement, colour, tension, strength, grace, hope, despair and a thousand other things to focus on. I want to transport you to that moment, to get a taste of it, even if it’s just for a moment.
